Students With Disabilities
Mount Saint Mary College, in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, provides reasonable testing accommodations for students with disabilities.
In order to qualify for testing modifications, appropriate documentation must be filed in advance with Ms. Jackie Santiago, Coordinator of Services for Persons with Disabilities. Under college policy, it is the responsibility of the individual requesting accommodations to provide the college with appropriate and acceptable documentation of the disability and the need for specific accommodations.
Any type of disability, whether it is a physical, sensory, learning, or psychological disorder, must be documented by a qualified treatment provider. A school plan such as an individualized education program (IEP) or a 504 plan is insufficient documentation, but it may serve as part of a more comprehensive assessment battery.
Once a student’s documentation has been reviewed, the college’s Coordinator of Services for Persons with Disabilities will notify the Outcomes Assessment Office as to what specific accommodations are warranted. Information regarding the disability itself will be kept strictly confidential.
Students with disabilities who require and are approved for testing modifications should schedule individualized testing.
Please contact the Counseling Center at 845-569-3115 for specific information concerning documentation of a disability.
