As part of our commitment to students’ academic success, Mount Saint Mary College requires that all degree-seeking students demonstrate minimal competence in reading, writing and mathematics. Any student who does not meet the minimal competency standards will be required to take appropriate measures and demonstrate competence in these areas.

All students must complete a writing placement examination. Testing in mathematics and reading comprehension depends on students’ intended programs of study and the scores earned on the SAT or ACT.

Our course placement program is designed to maximize your chances for a successful academic career at the Mount. Specific information about this program may be found on this website. Students are responsible for knowing the college’s testing and course placement policies as described through the various links.
